Emergency Medical Services Pathway at Atlantis Charter School

The EMS Tritons Academy is an advanced, career-focused pathway within the Atlantis Medical & Healthcare Academy. Designed for students pursuing careers in emergency medicine, public safety, and allied health fields, this program provides rigorous, hands-on training aligned with industry standards.

Students develop the clinical knowledge, emergency response skills, and professional readiness required for post-secondary certification programs and healthcare careers.

EMT-Basic Program

The EMS Tritons Academy EMT-Basic Program meets the National EMS Education Standards and prepares students for professional certification as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-Basic) . This competitive, advanced pathway provides rigorous classroom instruction, hands-on simulation training, and real-world emergency medical preparation.

Requirements & Information

Application Paperwork
Essay Submission

Applicants must submit:

  • Official enrollment application
  • Typed essay addressing required prompts
  • Three letters of recommendation
    • At least one from an Atlantis staff member
  • Completion of a 15-minute interview with the EMS Tritons Academy Board

Selected students must sign a program contract acknowledging expectations and program policies

To enroll in the EMT-Basic Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Age Requirement

  • Must be at least 17 years old to enroll
  • Must be 18 years old before attempting certification exams
  • Parental/guardian consent required if under 18

CPR Prerequisite

  • Must hold Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification from the American Heart Association

Health & Professional Standards

  • Must abstain from substances that impair judgment
  • Must meet physical and mental health standards necessary to perform EMT duties safely

Training Compliance

  • Must complete all training components and instructional prerequisites
Cost

Tuition, textbooks, initial exams, and uniforms are waived for Atlantis Charter School students.

Required Uniform (Monday–Thursday)

  • EMS Tritons polo
  • Tactical pants
  • Black belt
  • Tactical boots
  • EMS Tritons quarter-zip pullover
  • Students may dress down on Fridays
  • Hair must be secured appropriately during simulation days
