Bicycle Safety

With the warmer weather arriving, many of our students are enjoying bike rides! We want to remind all families to prioritize safety. Please ensure your child wears a properly fitted helmet every time they ride. It’s also a great time to review the rules of the road, such as riding in the same direction as traffic and using hand signals. Let’s keep our scholars safe while they enjoy the sunshine!

Resolving Conflict with Kindness

As part of our commitment to Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), we are focusing this month on helping students navigate and resolve conflicts in a positive way. Conflict is a natural part of growing up, but learning how to handle it respectfully is a lifelong skill.

At home, you can support your child by practicing these “Peaceful Problem Solving” steps:

  • Stop and Breathe: When feelings get big, take a moment to calm down before speaking.
  • Use “I” Statements: Encourage your child to say, “I feel ____ when ____ because ____,” rather than blaming others.
  • Listen Actively: Teach the importance of listening to the other person’s perspective without interrupting.
  • Brainstorm Together: Work on finding a “win-win” solution where both sides feel heard and respected.

Reminder: Attendance Matters!

On testing days especially, it is vital that students arrive on time. Our testing sessions begin promptly in the morning. If your child is late, they may have to wait until a make-up session to test, which can be more stressful for them. Let’s work together to get everyone here and ready to go by 8:15 am!
