Dear Atlantis Families,
Happy March! Spring is just around the corner, and we can feel the energy building in the hallways! We have had a fantastic winter of learning, and as the days get longer, we are looking forward to a month packed with exciting activities, field trips, and opportunities for our students to shine.
This month, we are putting a special focus on our Grade 3-6 students as they begin their Spring MCAS journey. We are so proud of the hard work they have put into their studies this year, and we know they are ready to show off everything they have learned!
Spotlight on MCAS: Grades 3-6
It is time for our scholars to show what they know! While MCAS is a state requirement, we view it as a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students’ progress and identify their strengths.
How You Can Help at Home:
- Rest & Recharge: Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep before testing days.
- Fuel Up: A healthy breakfast goes a long way in keeping minds sharp!
- Charge It!: MCAS is taken online. Please ensure your child brings their fully charged Chromebook to school every day. We have a very limited number of “loaner” devices.
- Positive Vibes: Encourage your child to simply do their best. We want them feeling confident and comfortable!
Student Responsibilities:
To ensure a successful testing environment, please remind your child that cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices are prohibited during testing. Electronic devices must be locked in a YONDR pouch. Students must work independently and stay within the MCAS testing platform.

MCAS Incentive:
Grade 3
For our students taking MCAS for the first time, we will have a special incentive focusing on MCAS expectations! Students will be rewarded for working productively for at least 1.5 hours, working out their answers and problems on scratch paper (just like their teachers taught them!), and staying on task during the assessments. We look forward to seeing our third graders shine on this state test!
Grade 4 – 6
Students who score meeting or exceeding OR who improve their score by 10 or more points will earn a special reward in October when scores are released! There will be separate rewards for both ELA MCAS and Math MCAS, so there is an opportunity for your child to earn two different incentives! We cannot wait to see what our students are capable of achieving!

March brings a very special celebration to Atlantis: Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Week! Social-Emotional Learning is the foundation of everything we do. It helps our scholars manage emotions, set positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, and make responsible decisions. When students feel supported emotionally, they are better equipped to succeed academically.
We want to give a huge shout-out to our creative students who helped us celebrate last week by making SEL Posters! These beautiful displays are hanging around the school, reminding us all about the importance of kindness, resilience, and self-care. Thank you for helping make our school a more mindful and supportive place!
