K-6 Newsletter – 1/6/2026

Dear Atlantis Families,

Happy New Year! We are so excited to welcome our students back for a fresh start in 2026. As we jump into a busy month, we want to celebrate the wonderful community spirit we saw in December—from our Chorus participating in the Fall River Children’s Holiday Parade to the amazing creativity shown during our door decorating contest!

Let’s keep that positive energy going as we head toward the end of the second quarter which will start on Monday, January 26th!

Important: Midyear STAR Assessments

During the week of January 5th, all students in Grades 1-6 will be participating in midyear STAR assessments for ELA and Math. These computer-adaptive tests help our teachers understand exactly how to support your child’s growth. While these do not affect overall grades, they are very important for planning the best instruction for your student.

How you can help at home:

  • Charge Up: Please ensure student Chromebooks are fully charged and ready for school.
  • Rest Up: Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
  • Fill Up: Serve a nutritious, hearty breakfast.
  • Show Up: Arrive on time so your child feels calm and ready.
  • Speak Up: Encourage them to take their time and simply do their very best!

Reminders

Phones/Electronic Devices:

K-2 Students are not able to bring phones or electronic devices to school.

Grade 3-6 students are able to bring cell phones to school but they MUST use the YONDR pouch daily (for phones and other electronic devices including smart watches).

Drop-Off & Dismissal Procedures

Morning Drop-Off: Takes place daily from 7:45 am – 8:15 am. Students should be in their classrooms ready to learn by 8:15 am.
Early Dismissal: We kindly request that you do not dismiss students after 2:00 pm. Dismissal procedures are already in motion at that time, and we cannot accommodate changes late in the day.
Car Line Safety: Please do not exit your vehicle to assist students. Children should exit onto the sidewalk to keep traffic flowing smoothly.

New Year Goals

Since it’s January, why not sit down as a family to create 2–3 “New Year Goals”? You might choose a goal related to a Personal Habit, a New Skill, or Schoolwork. Starting the year with a “clean slate” is a great way to build focus and excitement!

Dress Warmly

The weather is getting much cooler! Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess with jackets, hats, and gloves as needed.

Students should dress warm and in layers! We will continue to take students outside for recess so please make sure they are dressed appropriately.

Healthy Habits & School Rules

Academic Catch-up: If your student was absent recently, please ensure they complete their makeup work. Students generally have one day for every day absent (up to 5 days) to submit work.

Snack Time: We encourage healthy snacks like fruit, pretzels, or granola bars. Please avoid sending in “messy” snacks like cake, donuts, or large bags of chips.

Water Bottles: To prevent damage and noise, please send plastic water bottles only (32 oz or less). No metal bottles, please!

Dress Code: Reminder that hats and bandanas should be removed once students enter the building.
