Atlantis Charter School Announces
March 2025 – Following the recent statewide ballot decision to eliminate MCAS as a Competency Determination (CD) requirement for high school graduation, Atlantis Charter School has established a new CD policy in compliance with Massachusetts state law (G.L. c. 69 1D(i)). This change applies to the Class of 2025 and all future graduating classes.
Under the new policy, Atlantis students must meet the following Competency Determination Requirements in addition to the school’s existing graduation criteria:
-
English: Complete 9th and 10th grade English coursework with a 70 or higher
-
Math: Complete Algebra I and Geometry coursework with a 70 or higher
-
Science: Complete Biology and Chemistry coursework with a 70 or higher
In addition, former Atlantis students who met the school’s graduation requirements before December 2024 but did not satisfy the previous state-level CD standards will have an opportunity to earn their diploma under the new policy. The Atlantis Guidance Department will reach out to eligible individuals to assist them in meeting the new requirements, which may include completing coursework through the school’s sponsored online educational platform. Former students who already meet the revised criteria through previously completed coursework will be awarded their high school diploma.
For further details, current and former students can contact the Atlantis Charter School Guidance Department.
