Career Academy Students Engage with Employers at Career Fair
The Atlantis Career Academies hosted a Career Fair on Friday, April 26th, bringing 26 industry partners from Fall River and the South Coast onto campus for a morning of career exploration and networking.
Juniors and seniors made their way around the Atlantis Student Center, speaking to representatives from the organizations to learn about some of the career opportunities that await them after they are done with school.
Career fairs give students a unique opportunity to interact with industry professionals and learn more about different career paths so they can make informed decisions about their futures.
“The businesses were impressed by the knowledge base and engagement of our students,” said Robert Perry, Career Academies Director. “We encouraged students to ask questions and network. For juniors, a good first impression could lead to an internship opportunity senior year, and for our seniors, the right connection could lead to a job offer after graduation.”
Career fairs are not only an opportunity for employers to learn about students, but for students to learn about the organization, its values and work culture, the types of jobs typically available, and the skills students will need to develop to get hired.
A wide range of industries were represented at the career fair. Business and industry partners included BankFive, BayCoast Bank, Bristol Community College, Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, CFC Family Planning and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, Coaching4Change, Fall River Fire Dept, Fall River Police Dept, Katie Brown Educational Program, MA Division of Apprenticeship Standards, Mass Audubon, MassHire Bristol’s Youth Connection, Partners for a Healthier Community, People Incorporated, Saint Anne’s Hospital, Southeast Center for Independent Living, SSTAR Prevention, U.S. Army (Active/Reserve), Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home, and Zuzick Organization.
Thank you to all of our partners who came out to support our students.
