Winter 2023-24 Sports Preview

Tritons Ready to Conquer the Courts and Rock the Mats this Winter

The winter sports season is upon us. The Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball teams have kicked off their seasons, and the Cheer squad is looking forward to a tough season of competitions.

Girls Basketball

The Girls Varsity Basketball team hits the court with a fairly new cast of young players. Head coach Chandler Peltier is looking to this year’s seniors to replace the scoring power that last year’s seniors provided. The Tritons will be looking to improve on their previous season’s record. Much of that burden will be placed on the shoulders of Center Julia Ribon, Forward Yeiliani Rodriguez, Shooting Guard Luna Campos and Point Guard Adrianna Bates. It’s too early to tell if this will be the team’s first winning season, but they certainly will try their best.

Boys Basketball

In 2022-23 Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach Bob Ferris brought the Tritons back to the playoffs for the first time in four years. Athletic Director Chad Gormly feels with dedication and focus, this year’s team could reach the playoffs again, but a lot depends on Senior Miguel Pimentel. “He is proving himself to be the team’s primary scorer, and we hope to get help from Senior Israel Aponte in the paint, Freshman Davion Adediran, who is a pure shooter, and Sophomore Marvins Antoine, who may also contribute greatly to the success of the team this year,” Gormly said.

Winter Cheer

The Tritons Cheer squad is ready to rock the mats this winter. The team plans to attend twice as many competitions as last year in hopes of mastering the skills, not only to reach the Regional finals again but to vie for the top spots in Regionals this season. Head Coach Brianna DeAguiar believes this team has a good chance this year, as they are more focused and disciplined than in years past.

K-6 Basketball Clinics

To help build up our basketball program, Atlantis will be holding basketball clinics for K-6 throughout the winter. These Saturday clinics will begin in January. For information on the Winter clinics, please contact the Lower School main office.
