Atlantis Launches Field of Dreams Banner Campaign

Fall River, Mass., January 31, 2020 — Atlantis Charter School announced the launch of its Field of Dreams Banner Campaign to raise money to build a new baseball and softball field next to its state-of-the-art track and field complex. The goal of the campaign is to raise $100,000 of the estimated $400,000 project cost.

Organizations will have the opportunity to purchase a custom-printed banner to hang on the fence surrounding the athletic facilities at Atlantis. Staff, booster club parents, and students will act at banner sales representatives. Student banner sales reps will compete for prize money. The three grades with the highest sales will receive prize money for their choice of school event.

“We see this as a fun learning opportunity for students,” said Michael Lauro, associate executive director of Atlantis. “They will learn how to talk to potential customers, which in turn will help improve their communication skills and build confidence.”

Today, Atlantis’s baseball and softball teams practice and play at other off-site facilities. Once completed this new field will give both teams a home field advantage for the very first time.

The field will feature natural Kentucky Blue Grass and will include in-ground irrigation, sports field lighting, scoreboards, fencing, a grandstand and bleachers, perimeter walkways, parking and emergency vehicle access routes. Atlantis intends to share the use of the field with neighboring school youth and adult-based recreation and sports team organizations so that it not only benefits Atlantis students, but the entire community.

“We want this to be a Field of Dreams not only for Atlantis students, but for the people of Fall River – a true heart of the community,” said Lauro. “We want to see kids and adults make memories on this field, maybe one day we could even play host to a large event like the Special Olympics. The possibilities are endless.”
