New Career Academy Director

Robert Perry has joined the team at Atlantis Charter School as the new Career Academy Director. Robert brings a great deal of experience in college and career access.  Early in his career, he worked for the College Crusade of Rhode Island, a non-profit college access program. He worked closely with guidance counselors at the Providence schools to help students apply to college and prepare for the SATs. He later became the Career and Technical Education Coordinator at Providence Public Schools.

“Robert understands the scope of our vision for the Career Academies, and we are excited to see the ideas he brings to the table,” said Mike Lauro, associate executive director at Atlantis. “The college and business partnerships he has developed while working in Providence will surely benefit our students at Atlantis.”

Perry has been working closely with the rest of the administrative team on the Innovation Pathways application for the Arts, Culture and Design Academy. “I’m familiar with DESE’s requirements for an Innovation Pathways designation,” Perry said. “Right now, I’m looking at the curriculum we’re teaching, and at the certifications and credentials our students can get, so at the end of the day, the students have something in hand that will improve their access to college or give them a jump start on a career.”

Perry says he looks forward to the day he can engage students and staff in person.

A Rhode Island native, Perry holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Wheaton College in Norton, MA.
