Mrs. Karen Curran’s 4th Grade class from the Atlantis Charter School wanted to do a community project, as a team, that would enrich the lives of others.  They decided to “adopt” the father of a fellow student, who is doing his second tour in Iraq. Inspired by the, “Your Three Words” videos from Good Morning America, the class created a sign with the three words: Home Sweet Home. News of the project caught on and within one day, the entire school was involved. Every class created three words to show their appreciation for our soldiers. The daughter of the adopted father makes an appearance in almost every video shot. The classes were creative with their presentations. Wonderful three word messages like: Hang in there; delivered by a student hanging upside down from the monkey bars, Hugs from U.S.; signed by kindergarteners, Keep in touch; on a computer screen. With music playing in the background, signs of gratitude and encouragement, along with smiling children’s faces, one cannot help but get the chills while watching this emotional video.  Copies of this video are being mailed to Iraq for this father.  Other copies will be sent for distribution to other service men and women.  Atlantis Charter School thanks our military, past and present.
